GeoBit reads about 130 countries in their own languages around the clock, through local media, official sources and satellite imagery. The one thing a system cannot do is stand on the street. The Ground Network is people who live and work in the places we watch, and who are willing, now and then, to answer one question: is this happening, or isn't it? It is not a job. It is free, occasional and entirely on your terms. It is not open yet. If you would want to be part of it, register your interest below and we write to you first when it opens where you are.
We never ask you to report. We ask you one question, about one thing, when it happens near you. You answer from where you already are, or you ignore it.
Two minutes: who you are, where you are, a sentence on why. That makes your profile, which you can sign in to and update any time.
Someone from GeoBit confirms you are who and where you say. No exam, no paperwork. That is the whole check, and until it is done we never ask you anything.
When something happens near you, one email with one plain question and a link. Did it happen? Is it still going? What can you see? A minute on your phone.
Every answer is kept with the question it answered. Afterwards it is marked held up or did not, and you can see your record. Sources whose answers hold up are asked first next time.
A local source is useful because they are already there. The moment anyone moves toward something for us, the whole idea is wrong.
Not for us, not for anyone. Every question is answerable from where you already are, or not at all. If it is not safe, close the email. That is a fine answer.
No schedule, no minimum, no obligation. You are not an employee or a contractor of GeoBit by being on this network, and nobody will ever chase you for an answer.
We would rather have an honest "I cannot tell" than a confident guess. Say what you saw yourself, then what someone told you, and keep the two apart.
Your details are seen by GeoBit only. What goes further is "checked with a local source". If you ask for credit, your name; otherwise, never.
If you can look out of a window or walk to the corner and tell us what is there, you qualify. No special training, no equipment.
A ground network is only worth having if the answers can be trusted. So the system is built to tell a careful answer from a guess, and one answer is never a confirmation.
You are only ever asked about a specific thing, with a place and a time. Never "tell us what is going on".
The form separates "I saw it myself" from "someone told me" from "I saw it online". Only the first counts as a confirmation. The others are still useful, and we say so.
Two people who saw it themselves, independently, or one plus what our own collection shows. One answer is a lead, not a fact. A person at GeoBit makes the call, never the software.
Each answer is later marked held up or did not. Your record is visible to you, and to us before we ask again. Honest "not sure" answers never count against you.
Not money. This is free in both directions: we do not charge you and we do not pay you. What you get is the other side of the same picture.
The weekly GeoBit brief for your country, free, and a heads-up when something we see near you is worth knowing.
Tick the box and your name goes on the record when your answer is used. Leave it and you are "a local source", always.
A report about your city gets checked with someone who lives in it. That someone is you.
No. It is voluntary. There is no schedule, no minimum and no obligation. Being on the network does not make you an employee or a contractor of GeoBit.
No. The Ground Network is free in both directions. Paid, scoped work for geospatial and security specialists is the Expert Network, which is separate and has its own terms.
Only you can judge that, and we never ask you to go anywhere. Every question can be answered from where you already are, or not at all. Ignoring a question is always fine.
GeoBit. What goes to clients is "checked with a local source". If you asked for credit, your name; otherwise never.
Say so, or say you are not sure. Answers are rated afterwards against what else came in, and we tell you how yours did. Being honest about doubt is the most useful thing a source can do.
Country by country, once the first local sources there have had their confirmation call. Registering now puts you first in line, and you decide then, with everything explained.

Your profile is made and a sign-in link is on its way to your inbox. We write to you first when the Ground Network opens where you are. Nothing to do until then.
